  3. What will the money be used for?

  1. Q: Why Should I Donate?
A: Because we desperately need your money.

  2. Q: That's not enough of a reason, give me something more substantial..
A: Supporting the arts supports the community. In The Rise of the Creative Class: And How It's Transforming Work, Leisure, Community and Everyday Life, author Richard Florida describes how communities with vibrant liberal arts scenes fare much better economically than those that do not. According to Florida, a city that has lots of concerts, theater, and art shows will draw a higher tax base because people with higher incomes want to live in more entertaining and creative environments.

Just look at cities you have visited. Cities with rich cultural development and art do well economically. By donating to the arts, you will contribute to the quality of life in the Piedmont Triad and North Carolina.

All money contributed to AD goes DIRECTLY into making quality events and projects happen.

American Distractions firmly believes that artists should get paid for their talent, time, and creativity. That only happens when artists get paid for their contributions whenever possible. American Distractions is ONE OF THE ONLY independent theater organizations around who pays writers, actors and directors. Not only that, but funding for American Distractions also goes into educational documentaries that cover local North Carolina topics.

  3. Q: What will the money be used for?
A: 100% of your donnations will go directly into our multitude of projects. Including plays, documentaries, shortfilms, and festivals.

The most immediate use will be taking a full cast to New York to perform the collaboratively produced "YourPlace...or Mine?" play at the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival. We need hotel rooms, food, etc.

  4. Q: I don't have any money, but is there another way I can help?
A: Sure, there are lots of ways. Just shoot us an email and ask. We always need performers, advertising assistance, doorpersons, groupies, etc.
